Cellular concrete (aerated concrete) is a lightweight concrete with a Portland cement base containing many small air cells uniformly distributed throughout the concrete.  Cellular concrete has been produced primarily by autoclave systems over the past 70 years, a fairly reliable process, but fairly expensive. CoreTech cellular concrete  is produced by the use of special foaming agents in combination with mechanical blending systems that produce uniform air cells within the blend.  This material has been reliably used in commercial and residential construction, in geotechnical applications to line trenches and tunnels, to cover or fill large areas, to form sound absorption walls, create crash barriers and runway arrestors, to create lightweight partitions, lightweight roof decks and light weight retaining walls. Cellular concrete  is being used in roads, bridges, residential structures, commercial buildings, powerplants, levies, countertops, curbs, railroad bed systems and countless other applications.  The advantages of cellular concrete  over traditional concrete materials are numerous.  Examples include:

  • ultra-light weight
  • increased sound insulation
  • increased thermal insulation and fire resistance
  • reduced material and labor costs
  • flowable applications
  • good freeze-thaw resistance
  • low permeability
  • ease of application and workability

There are considerable job cost advantages by using CoreTech’s cellular concrete as an alternative material in many applications.  CoreTech’s cellular concrete in our exclusive wall panel systems result in reduced construction costs with housing that offers increased wind resistance, fire resistance, better insulation, lower utility costs and a quieter, safer, and more comfortable home.  See CAHS for more information on our Affordable Housing Systems.  Our modular construction system is just the answer for affordable housing in areas such as the US Gulf and other coastal areas susceptible to hurricane-force winds, impoverished countries, and war-torn regions in the Middle East.  CoreTech’s cellular concrete is light weight, thus is less expensive to transport.  Cellular concrete is versitile, can be self-leveling and free flowing, thus involving less labor.  Cold joint-to-joint pours can easily be achieved.  Longer spans between joints are common.  For geotechnical and road applications, cellular concrete can be poured on relatively unstable soils that would be unacceptable for the use of traditional concrete or asphalt materials.  We can deliver a rail bed system with a 25-year warranty, due to the advantages of our product, resulting in huge economic advantages to the railway.  Atmospheric temperature variables are not as much of a factor as traditional concrete materials.  Cellular concrete has been used in extremely cold and extremely hot locations without incident of failure.  Cellular concrete also provides a true measurable cost savings; the average job cost saving is about 20%.

Whether for better roads, rail bed systems, affordable housing, stronger and safer homes, better commercial buildings, bullet resistant schools, insulation systems, crash barriers, or many other applications, CoreTech’s cellular concrete products are the best in the industry and offer applications unattainable with other construction products.
